I guess summer is officially over

I've been feeding birds for many years. I get pleasure from watching them, infrequently though I get to do it. But I never fed hummingbirds until about 3 years ago.

In that time, I've learned much about these beautiful, colorful, nearly impossible creatures. One of those things has been their migration patterns, along with what time I can expect them to show up and when, regretfully, they leave for the winter.

Something else I learned is that you leave the feeders up until 2 weeks have passed without a guest. This is to allow those late travelers to have a rest stop.

It's been 2 weeks and no hummers. To me, this marks the true end of summer.

Enjoy this video, shot just before fall migration started, of the feeder on our deck. Fall is here and winter is coming. I pray for, and look forward to, spring.
