No

(Via the Drudge Report)

While dancing in the blood of innocent victims, anti-civil rights cultists want to go after their favorite target, the right to keep and bear arms.

"There are ways of doing this without infringing upon anyone's rights,” she said.

No, there aren't. What part of "shall not be infringed" fails to register with you?

"One of the weapons used in Friday's shooting was an AR-15 semi-automatic assault rifle..."

No, it wasn't. There's no such thing as a "semi-automatic assault rifle", and no matter how hard you try, you can't wish one into existence.

Let me explain this to you tone-deaf political whores and media morons. No, you are not going to use the tragedy of the Aurora murders infringe on our rights. Feel free to try, but me and people like me are going to be right here, in your face, telling you "No".

Twaddle

(I posted this a a comment on the Charlotte People's & Worker's Daily, but since my comment has been submitted for moderation, I'm posting it here as well. Besides, it's one of the better things I've written lately.)

“I don’t care if there were 10 people with carry-concealed weapons,” she said. “They could not have stopped it.”

Really, madam? And you know this exactly...how? What is your expertise in the field of self defense training--besides instruction in how to dial 911 (also known as government-sponsored dial-a-prayer)?

Here's the real deal. With the bad guy as the only person in possession of a gun, the chances approach zero that anyone will be able to stop him. Look at all the mass shootings in recent history. Nearly all stopped when someone else WITH A GUN showed up and forced the bad guy to stop shooting. Whether that means they shot the bad guy or in did it in some other manner, it was the good guy with a gun that stopped a bad guy with a gun.

I'm a good guy with a gun. Do not try to tar me with your nonsense, because I will not accept it. I will not be punished for the actions of others. I will not allow you to blame inanimate objects for the actions of a deranged person. I will not play your game and I will not cede the field to you. You will not be allowed to spout your nonsense without reply. You will not define the terms of the discussion. As a matter of fact, there will be no discussion with you. You will, however, receive the ridicule you so richly deserve.

I've been unplugged all day...

So, unlike the rest of the US, I had no clue that the latest in a long series of pathetic nut jobs decided that a theater in Colorado was a great place to seek his 15 minutes. When I got home, Mountain Man is IMing me on the subject. I had to get off IM and go read up.

Lots of stuff out there, some information, lots of speculation, the usual suspects dancing in the blood--all the stuff we gunnies have come to expect when this happens.

Michael Bane has the best comments on the whole sad affair so far.

So far, the only thing I can say, and perhaps all that I need to say, is that this is another symptom of our society going KABOOM! We don't know how bad things will get or how far they will sink. My suspicion is that we have a long way to go before we see bottom.

My thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families.

Atlas Shrugged

(Via the Drudge Report)

Now on page 638.

And in the former Great Britain

(Via the Drudge Report)

A Bruce Springsteen concert ends early because of restrictions on noise.

And in a lovely piece of irony, Steven Van Zandt, bandmate of the rather liberal Springsteen, says the UK has become a police state. I don't know van Zandt's leanings, but it sounds to me like the Boss got a taste of what he's been asking for.
