I might have to rethink the use of pistols/shotguns for home defense

I've seen it mentioned here and there about the Intertubz, but this is the first documented case I've seen of a home invader wearing body armor. Either it was low grade, or our hero was using something with a bit more umph than average.

Or practice my Tueller drills.

A vest only covers the vital organs, and shots to the groin, head, neck, or those penetrating other major blood vessels are often fatal without immediate medical intervention. The article didn't say where the robber was shot, but I'd bet it was somewhere not covered by armor, or the homeowner had slugs in his shotgun or an FN 5.7 or TT pistols. They all go through IIIA armor.
