Long periods of peace and quiet favor certain optical illusions. Among them is the assumption that the invulnerability of the home is founded upon the Constitution and safe-guarded by it. In reality, it rests upon the father of the family who, accompanied by his sons, appears with an ax on the threshold of his dwelling. -- Ernst Junger

America, welcome to the third world
I've been keeping up with the lunacy in the US House this afternoon. It seems, shouting and catcalls aside, the Democrats are going to be successful substituting their judgment for that of the people who elected them, and are going to pass the Senate's version health care destruction reform bill.
We had a nice run while it lasted, and while I'm not ready to give up the fight, I suspect it's rapidly becoming more of a desperate last stand.
