Well fellow gunnies, the battle is joined. We have our first anti-civil rights legislation of the 111th Congress. Rep. Bobby Rush (Totalitarian-IL) has introduced the "Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009". To spare you all the reading, here are the highlights:

• Creates a national firearms licensing scheme.
• Licenses are good for 5 years and are shall issue. Licenses must be renewed every 5 years.
• All transfers must take place through a licensed dealer.
  
• The AG gets a full record of every firearm transfered. Can you say "Gun Registry"?

Now's the time to start emailing your Representatives. Be polite, but be firm. Tell them that you are a single-issue voter--you vote to protect your civil rights. This bill is anti-civil rights, and you expect them to do everything in their power to stop this bill cold. (If you don't know your Rep's email, you can find it here.)

Remember to use the term "civil rights". The Second Amendment is as much a civil right as the First, the Fourth or any other, and deserves the same protection.
