Down in flames!

(Via The Drudge Report)

And deservedly so.

The Senate drove a stake Thursday through President Bush's plan to legalize millions of unlawful immigrants, likely postponing major action on immigration until after the 2008 elections.

It seems that our senators finally got the message that "We, the People" don't want amnesty--we want our borders secured. As Sen. Elizabeth Dole (from my home state of NC, I want to note) said, Americans don't have any confidence that this bill will significantly tighten our borders. "It's not just promises but proof that the American people want." Ma'am, you said it.

We've had years and years of promises, and years and years of illegal aliens flooding over our borders, especially the one with Mexico. Here at The Freehold, we are sick and tired of it. We're also sick and tired of the political pandering that comes from not only the Left but from the Center on this subject.

Now here's an offer to the politicos of all persuasions. Fix the borders--lock 'em down. Start making things unfriendly for the illegals--no more free rides on our tax dollars, no more birthright citizenship to their children, no more "wink, wink; nudge, nudge". Do that, and show us that it will be maintained, and then we can talk about things like guest worker programs.

But until you do those things, STFU. You've lost.
